Services Offered:
-
Ultrasonography
Iron Horse is currently equipped with ultrasound to perform thorough imaging and examination of all internal structures of your equine/equine athlete including: soft tissue structures, organs and reproductive systems.
Ultrasound is a valuable tool in diagnosing a wide range of conditions, from tendon and ligament injuries, to reproductive issues/pregnancies and colic abnormalities.
-
Digital Radiography
Iron Horse is currently equipped with digital radiography. Radiography, or x-rays, are utilized to visualize your horse’s bones and joints.
Radiographs are primarily used for diagnostic purposes, and are a crucial tool for assessing lameness, identifying fractures, and evaluating the severity of conditions like arthritis, navicular syndrome, and laminitis.
Radiography can also be used during pre-purchase exams.
-
Focused Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)
Focused ESWT is a comfortable, noninvasive, regenerative therapy that heals musculoskeletal and soft tissue pathologies. ESWT can: relieve muscle pain and trigger points, manage osteoarthritis, rehabilitate chronic and acute tendinopathies, alleviate inflammation and treat non-healing wounds.
Iron Horse currently utilizes a Curative Shockwave unit, meaning no sedation is required.
-
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive technique that involves injecting medications and vitamins into the mesoderm—or middle layer of the skin. This technique is used to alleviate pain/inflammation and is primarily utilized with musculoskeletal pain.
Horses with kissing spines or back lesions, neck osteoarthritis or otherwise are excellent candidates for this modality.
-
Regenerative Products
Iron Horse is equipped with regenerative modalities like: Pro-Stride, PRP, IRAP and stem-cells.
Regenerative modalities often consist of using a horse's own blood to create a concentrated solution of anti-inflammatory proteins and growth factors.
This solution is then injected into joints to reduce inflammation and pain, potentially providing relief for up to a year.
These modalities are a drug-free alternative to traditional steroid injections, making it suitable for various horses, including young performance horses, older horses with metabolic issues, and actively competing animals.
-
Arthramid
Arthramid is a 2.5% polyacrylamid hydrogel (iPAAG) injection used to treat joint lameness, particularly for osteoarthritis and some soft tissue injuries.
Arthramid integrates into the synovial membrane, restoring joint health and unction rather than masking pain.
Arthramid is a long-lasting, non-pharmaceutical treatment that can improve a horse’s mobility and reduce pain associated with joint issues.
